Backstory: Oh god I'm so sorry Xenoblade's story is very long and complicated.

Once upon a time, Earth was forcibly split into two different worlds. The two worlds were nearly ignorant of each other's existence, until they started to slowly approach each other to recombine. An upside of this closing proximity allowed the denizens of each world to communicate, and together they hatched a plan to safely merge back into one planet. However, the collective fear and anxiety over the future gave rise to a being known as Z, who was the manifestation of that fear and the desire for the status quo. He hijacked the technology being used to merge the worlds, creating a mishmash planet called Aionios. In this new world, there is no future, and everything is locked in an endless cycle. Unfortunately for the collective souls of the two worlds' populations, this means they are trapped in a forever war for the entertainment and sustenance of Z and his minions (collectively known as Moebius). People are born as child soldiers and spend their entire lives training and fighting until they are either killed in battle or reach 10 years of age, whereupon they are released from service (they still die). When you're killed, your soul is recycled into another child soldier, and the cycle continues. Meanwhile, the consuls of Moebius literally hang out in a theater watching the carnage on a big screen and absorb the life energy released in battles.

Eunie is one such child soldier, who, along with a few other child soldiers, accidentally tripped and fell into la resistance. They were granted a power called Ouroboros, which allowed them to not only match the strength of Moebius but also free people from the system that kept them bound to the forever war. It also let them transform into cool giant mecha forms, but that's besides the point. As they traveled across Aionios, Eunie and her new companions discovered many things, such as the awful truth of their world's creation and how babies are made. Eunie herself had the misfortune of stumbling across her own corpse from a previous life, where she and her unit excelled so much at killing the other side in war that they were rewarded... by being personally murdered by Consul D so he could harvest their delicious, delicious life energy. This fucked her up mentally for a good while until she got revenge and killed him back.

Eventually, Eunie, the rest of Ouroboros, the resistance, and the freed people of Aionios came together to battle Z head on, ultimately rejecting Moebius' "endless now" and choosing to embrace the future despite the uncertainty. With Z deleted, Aionios untangled itself back into the two worlds it came from, and the souls of people returned to their original states on their respective planets.

Personality:

Eunie is loud and crass. She is not shy about voicing her opinions, even when nobody asked for it. She is absolutely the kind of person who describes themselves as "brutally honest" when in reality they're just kind of a jerk who doesn't know when to keep their mouth shut. Obviously, this leads her to butt heads with people often, but even if she does get into arguments quickly, she'll cool off almost as fast. One minute she'll be in your face about something, and the next she'll be laughing it off like it was just a big joke. In fact, she gets a kick out of ribbing people, and it's likely that the more she picks on you, the more she likes you. And anyone who can match her barbs is a good friend as far as she's concerned.

That's not to say she'll let just anything slide, though. Eunie is extremely prideful, and can be goaded into something pretty easily if she feels like she has something to prove. She really dislikes being perceived as an airhead- even if its her own fault due to how she acts. What ultimately drives her to confront and defeat Consul D is that yes, she was terrified of him, but she hated that he had that effect on her so much that she forced herself to get over her fear. Her motivations aren't always entirely selfish, though- she can put her pride aside when other people have placed their trust in her to accomplish something. She gives an inspiring speech to Consul X where she says she's not just fighting for herself- people across Aionios have placed their hopes in her and her friends, so now she's fighting for their sake, too, and she can't let them down.

As much as she likes to project an image of being tougher than nails, Eunie does have a bit of a soft side. She has a fondness for small, fluffy animals, finds certain kinds of snake-like monsters gross, and absolutely loves to collect Fortune Clovers and other good luck charms. If someone were to notice any of these traits, however, she'll get incredibly flustered at first and then try to play it off like it totally doesn't bother her or make her look any less tough. Lord help you if you catch her getting emotional- you're liable to get hit with a stream of insults and foul language as she retreats back to her comfort zone.

Due to being grown in a tube, Eunie has a skewed view of how humans actually work. She and her friends did eventually meet people who weren't locked in the forever war, but she's still relatively new to concepts such as parents, reading for pleasure, and aging into adulthood. She finds people who look noticeably older than 20 a bit weird and thinks of things like marriage like fun novelties. It's something she's well aware of, but still causes some awkward moments from time to time.

Even before finding her own corpse, Eunie has had a fear of death. She wasn't originally supposed to be a Medic Gunner- she was intended to be a sharpshooter- but took up the position after the traumatic death of one of her childhood friends. Accidentally unlocking her past life memories of being brutally murdered really did a number on her psyche- just seeing other corpses gives her the shakes, and coming face to face with the consul who ended her past life made her shut down entirely. Defeating him in battle helped her to mostly get over her crippling trauma, but she still has an overwhelming desire for self-preservation and a drive to protect and heal others. While not a mom friend by any means, Eunie does like to take care of people, and her bedside manner is surprisingly jovial and warm.

Relatedly, Eunie deeply resents people who disregard the lives of others or use them for selfish ends. Of course this stems from fighting against Moebius, but if you were forced to fight in a forever war just for the entertainment of someone else, you'd probably hate them a lot, too. She's also not keen on people who are dangerously reckless with their own lives- the quest to recruit party member Ashera focuses heavily on Eunie's indignation with her downright berserk style of fighting with no regard for her own safety or the well-being of her soldiers.

Eunie admittedly prefers to take things at face value, so she greatly appreciates anyone who's up front and transparent with her. On the other hand, she gets easily annoyed with people who can't or won't be open with her. If she doesn't just straight up snark at anyone acting mysterious or dodgy, she will actually get really insulted if someone misleads her. There's a scene where she and Ashera appear to be having a heart to heart, the latter being uncharacteristically vulnerable... until claiming that she was only joking. Eunie is so offended that she concludes "I really, seriously hate you."

Eunie just spent an 80+ hour JRPG learning to accept that the future is uncertain but the alternative is stagnation, and that's so much worse. She's always been pretty good at rolling with the punches, but she's leaving Aionios behind with a resolve to face whatever life throws at her. When it comes to trauma, she hates feeling it, period, and will try to power through until she doesn't have to. This doesn't always work, of course, but she never learned any actual healthy coping methods. Someone get this girl a therapist.

Powers/Abilities:
Combat medic: Eunie has trained most of her life as a medic, and even without using ether she is highly capable in administering medical treatment to people in need in high stress situations (like, you know, war).
Weapon/combat prowess: While her specialty is the Gunrod, she can competently handle a variety of melee and ranged weapons, and if nothing else, can throw hands just as well as she can fire a gun.
Ether channeling: "Ether" in Xenoblade is basically magic, and she's extremely good at manipulating it in both her healing arts and as a weapon. Using her Gunrod, she can cast a small aura around her to heal anyone within its radius. This won't be able to heal particularly grievous injuries, but it can close smaller wounds, staunch bleeding and temporarily alleviate pain and/or exhaustion so that an injured person is able to keep going until they can get more thorough medical treatment. Offensively, she can use the rifle end of the Gunrod to fire ether-powered bursts (bullets, but made of ~magic~).

All of her Ouroboros powers are gone by the end of the game, so she won't be bringing any cool giant mecha shenanigans with her. And she can't transform without Taion anyway. SOMEONE APP TAION PLS

Inventory:
Gunrod: A tall staff that Eunie uses to heal her comrades in battle, or shoot enemies with.
Dog tags: She found these on the corpse of her past life, and can't bring herself to get rid of them.
Tea recipe: A gift from her friend Taion, from right before Aionios was split back into two worlds. His recipe for tea using herbs that she could find on her own world- except she's not there, so it might not be of much use.

Game Plans: Eunie just finished saving her own world, so being unceremoniously dropped into another death world is going to piss her off greatly. Still, she's going to see parallels with her own journey in Aionios with the mission she and the other drifters have been given, and will be enticed to see where it goes. Some of these parallels are going to hit a little too close to home for her- for example, when people die on Aionios, their bodies crystalize into husks, which just happens to be one of her biggest PTSD triggers. Her sigil will replace the tattoo that marked how old she was, which will be a cause for concern: is her time on this world limited, too?

As a medic and a soldier, Eunie will be willing and able to put her skills to use in the convoy.

Monster Choice:
Celestial (Unicorn) "Winged creature with healing prowess but nonetheless capable of great violence" is Eunie in a nutshell. And a cussing angel would be really funny, let's be real.
Elemental (Slime) I think this would be a neat way to translate her innate ability to control ether, which is an abundant element in her world. As for element, proooobably wind? Since she's a bird person and all.
Drakonis (Sphinx): The pride mentality/territorial trait would mesh well with her desire to protect people she cares about. Plus it would be funny if she were compelled to make riddles because she would be really bad at it.

Vehicle Choice: A kei truck, small enough for maneuverability but with enough space for medical supplies/carrying injured people. Of course, it's tough. She'll probably want to add guns to it later.
